The R9 Companion™ application is a sophisticated tool designed to maximize the functionality of the Uniden R9 or R9w radar detector, which must be equipped with US Firmware version 136 / 113 for optimal operation.

This app provides an extensive array of features aimed at enhancing driving safety and awareness. Its intelligent alert system, combined with advanced muting options, offers users a comprehensive solution for effective radar detection.

Unique features exclusive to R9 Companion™ include:
<ul>
<li>Duplicate signal rejection utilizing shared source data, enabling the R9 to function as if it were two detectors, thereby improving accuracy in lockouts and bogey counts.</li>
<li>Dual horn priority signal queuing ensures that the most critical signals are prioritized and displayed with correct strength in real-time.</li>
<li>High-resolution meters for both front and rear signal strength assessment.</li>
</ul>

The app benefits from years of refinement within the Radar Companion™ series, providing compatibility with models such as V1, R8, R4, and DS1 through separate downloads from the app store.

Enhanced GPS-based false muting features—SpotLocks™—allow for intelligent learning of false alert locations, with the promise of free updates for all future versions. The system integrates seamlessly with the R9's internal auto-mute memory, allowing for real-time synchronization of location-based settings.

The alerting and muting systems have been carefully optimized for the R9 platform. Users are kept well-informed through intelligent voice announcements complemented by on-screen visuals that adapt to evolving driving conditions.

The complete feature set encompasses:

<li>SpotLocks™ - A user-friendly interface for location-based false alert suppression, configurable via automatic learning or manual locking/unlocking from the primary alert display.</li>
<li>Synchronization with the R9’s internal mute memory ensures updated settings transfer instantly when locations are created or deleted.</li>
<li>An option to enable detector tones directly within the app interface.</li>
<li>A proximity meter utilizing high-resolution signal strength and directional data for precise source indication.</li>
<li>A "K & X falses in area" meter that assesses potential false alert density based on accumulated SpotLock data™.</li>
<li>Customizable audio alert phrases for specific threats.</li>
<li>HUD displays that differentiate real alerts from false signals through color coding, showing band, strength, frequency, and direction information. Secondary alerts are displayed with detailed bands, bogey counts, and directions.</li>
<li>The capability to mute rear K & X band signals independently to refine detection focus.</li>
<li>Advanced muting features specifically optimized for BSM/CAS/Ka false signals on the R9 platform.</li>
<li>Internal detector settings can be managed through the app—note that this requires US Firmware version 126:</li>

The application also includes features such as 'Ghost' muting for persistent false emitters, Passive Mute™ which silences alerts below user-defined speeds or during weak signals, bogey counters, vehicle speed monitoring, mute status management, detailed voice alerts covering direction, band, frequency, strength, and alert count. Additionally, automatic muting of specific bands after set time durations enhances detection management.

The Urgency Alerts™ system monitors increasing threats and provides immediate voice notifications. An 'Alert History' feature allows review of past alerts with comprehensive details. Compass heading data, support for imperial and metric units, and a detailed trip summary—covering duration, distance traveled, alerts encountered, muting statistics, battery status—are included to offer thorough trip analysis. Users also receive notifications via iPhone and Apple Watch regarding direction, band, and frequency shifts of alerts. Helpful tips and support information are readily accessible.
